Sarah McConnell, Melanie Barthel, and Lauren Darr Appointed to AICPA Committees

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) is the world’s largest member association representing the accounting profession. Johnson Lambert has proudly had many of our firm’s leaders sit on esteemed AICPA committees, and we’re excited to announce Sarah McConnell and Melanie Barthel’s leadership roles within the association.

Partner Sarah McConnell has been appointed to the AICPA Accounting and Review Services Committee (ARSC), effective May 2022. “The ARSC’s mission is to develop and communicate comprehensive performance and reporting standards and practice guidance to enable accountants of nonissuers to provide high quality, objective compilation and review services in the best interests of the profession and the users of compiled and reviewed financial statements, with the ultimate purpose of serving the public interest.”

Principal Melanie Barthel has been appointed to the AICPA PCPS Technical Issues Committee (TIC), effective May 2022. “TIC works to represent the views of local firms and their clients in the standards-setting process. It monitors the activities of the various standard setting boards (FASB, GASB, ASB) and other AICPA Senior Committees and, when appropriate, submits comments and recommendations to the standard setters as the collective voice of small and medium-sized firms. The committee also helps firms keep up with the latest technical standards through the Technical Issues Alert.”

Partner Lauren Darr has been reappointed to the AICPA Joint Trial Board for a final three year term, effective May 2022. The AICPA Joint Trial Board is an ethics hearing panel for AICPA members. They work to “provide for uniform enforcement of professional standards by adjusting disciplinary charges against state society and AICPA members.”

Congratulations to Sarah, Melanie, and Lauren on their roles!
